UNITED CONSIDERED DROGBA July 26, 2012 July 30, 2012 StrikeForce

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he did consider the possibility of signing Chelsea striker Didier Drogba after he decided to leave Chelsea. However, the fact that he openly admitted that he would not like to play for another English club due to his affinity with Chelsea meant that Manchester United never thought of making a concrete bid for the striker. The 34-year-old is still regarded as one of the best strikers in the world. He was the main reason for Chelsea winning the Champions League and the FA cup title last season after he scored in both the finals.

Didier Drogba also stepped up to take the winning penalty for the Premier league club. He brought an end to his eight-year association with the club after deciding to not extend his contract. Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted that he is extremely happy to see the back of Didier Drogba, who has been a major nemesis for Manchester United over the years. It was Didier Drogba who scored the first goal in the new Wembley, which started in association with the stadium that saw him score numerous goals in his appearances for Chelsea at this magnificent stadium.

“The decision was his anyway and he said if he was going to leave Chelsea, he wouldn’t play for another club in England. So that answered that question, but I could’ve been [tempted to move for Drogba],” said Sir Alex Ferguson while on the pre-season tour of Asia. Manchester United will once again be seeing the force of Didier Drogba when they take on Shanghai Shenhua in a pre-season friendly match. This will be the first time Didier Drogba comes up against an English opposition since his departure from Chelsea almost a month ago. Former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka will also face Manchester United.
