Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba’s son Isaac has signed his first contract with Guingamp, meaning fans will soon be able to watch him live in French football matches.  His son, who is currently 17 years old, has spent some time with the Chelsea academy prior to his move to the French side. He is following his father’s footstep who also signed for Guingamp some 16 years ago.

Didier Drogba who is currently playing in the MLS at the age of 39 posted a picture on social media and said that he was proud of his son. The first player to comment was his former teammate at Chelsea Frank Lampard who said that he remembers Isaac when he was younger and that he has grown to become a man. He has wished him all the best for his future career.

John Terry was another former teammate that has commented on the post and has congratulated Isaac for the new deal. He said that Didier’s son has grown up quickly and wish him all the best. German football legend Jugen Klinsmann aso echoed those kind words.

Didier Drogba said that he is happy for his son and believes that he can have a good career if he works well in training. He said that it is now more difficult to succeed as a football player but that if you work hard enough you should be able to make it at the top level. There is talk that Dorgba will be immediately be loaned out to play Dutch football, with reknowned youth development club Heerenveen interested.

Isaac has a long way to go if he wants to emulate his father although he has done the first step by joining Guingamp. It was at Guingamp that Didier Drogba will first caught the eye and will earn him a place at Marseille. At Marseille, he burst onto the European scene with an impressive campaign where he helped them to reach the UEFA Cup final. His good performance then attracted the eyes of Chelsea where he became a big star.
