DROGBA CONTRACT IN DOUBT December 5, 2011 December 5, 2011 StrikeForce

Didier Drogba’s Chelsea future has been thrown into doubt after he has apparently rejected a one-year extension on his current contract. It is thought that Didier Drogba is keen on having a new contract for a longer period. However, Chelsea are not willing to offer the 33-year-old striker more than 12 months. This has led to speculation that Didier Drogba could walk out of Chelsea at the end of the current season. His current deal expires at the end of this season. It would be a major shock for Chelsea, as he has been part of the backbone of Chelsea for more than seven years now.

Didier Drogba is one of contract worth around £ 120,000 per week. It is thought that he has had a number of lucrative offers from Russia and Qatar. Even AC Milan have been showing a lot of interest in the striker. Didier Drogba’s agent has revealed that the striker has rejected a move in favour of AC Milan. The exact reasons for doing so have not been revealed by the agent.

However, he revealed that money has now become an important factor for the big Ivorian, as he has nothing to prove any more. His agent also revealed that even LA Galaxy would be a lucrative option for his client given that they are well on course to leave a significant portion of their wage bill after the departure of David Beckham.

Speaking in Senegal, Didier Drogba’s agent said, “AC Milan came in for Didier on loan with an option to buy but I said ‘No’ straight away. Their offer did not interest us. At Didier’s age, he has nothing left to prove as a player. He will go where he is offered the most money. It could be the United States, Russia, Qatar or somewhere else in Asia.”
