Didier Drogba is 39 years old and is still managing to perform at a fairly high level.


The Ivorian forward continues to defies the odds and the veteran player has initiated his new chapter in the American club Phoenix Rising in superb form after scoring a goal during his debut match.

On June 10 of 2017, Phoenix Rising faced off with Vancouver Whitecaps FC in a match that resulted with the team of Patrice Carteron claiming a 2-1 triumph. This game was particularly special for Didier Drogba as he made his debut and managed to score a goal as well as provided an assist to his teammate Shaun Wright-Phillips who would later go on to score the winning goal which edged out the triumph for Phoenix Rising.

The former Chelsea player devoted his debut goal with Phoenix Rising to his Ivorian teammate Cheick Tiote who recently passed away during a training session with the Chinese club Beijing Enterprises. This unfortunate incident occurred on June 5 of 2017.

When the match between Phoenix Rising and Beijing Enterprises was over, Didier Drogba used his social media Instagram account to express his happiness as well as announce that the goal he scored was an honor to Check Tiote.
